Though born in England, it was Francisco’s South American upbringing that shaped his style: a sense for vibrant colours and energetic sets he is now well known for.
Francisco worked in a theatre since early age, moving on to study architecture and set and costume design, graduating with distinction from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. His formal training gave him the artistic and technical tools to deliver his designs. He most enjoys the creative collaboration with the director, conceiving a three-dimensional space from a two-dimensional script.
He has immersed himself in different art forms, ranging from Operas and Musicals to TV, Film, Experiential, Ballet, and Dance, each one of them contributing to shape and enhance the other.
As well as his film work, Francisco designed the imposing stage and costumes for the Coronation Festival Gala at Buckingham Palace, drawing on his experience in different art forms while designing and styling diverse acts for live audience and HD filming. One of his recent feature films was recently recognised with a BAFTA nomination for best costume design and one of his plays for an International Design Award.
in 2018 Francisco was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
